National Park Bohemian Switzerland (Czech: České Švýcarsko; German: Böhmische Schweiz), also known as Czech Switzerland, is a natural region in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains in the northwestern Czech Republic. It was affected by bark beetles and had a big forest fire last year, but there is still plenty of beautiful, intact nature as well.
Lunch will be served in a local restaurant.
Schedule
09:00: Departure at the main entrance of the CZU campus
09:30: Stop at Vítězné náměstí (Subway station – Dejvická)
12:15: Arrival at Mezní Louka (walk to Pravčická brána)
Topic: Recovery of the spruce forest after the most extensive forest fire in the Czech Republic and after bark beetle calamity, including the Pravčická brána rock arch.
15:30: Departure to Krásná Lípa – visit to the Falkenštejn brewery.
17:30: Departure to the Křinický potok valley.
Topic: Area affected by the Ips typograpus outbreak (extensive mortality of lowland Norway spruce).
around 19:30: Departure to Prague (arrival after 21:30).
