Welcome Message
Dear friends of chemical ecology,
The 39th Annual Meeting of the International Society of Chemical Ecology (ISCE) will take place in Prague, Czechia from Sunday 14 July to Thursday 18 July 2024. It is the second time Prague is hosting an ISCE meeting (the previous one was held in 1996) and we would like to pay tribute to this legacy by adopting the slogan ‘Chemical Ecology Returns to Prague’ for the ISCE2024 event. The venue for the meeting is in the green campus of the Czech University of Life Sciences (CZU), located in a quiet area that is easily accessible from both the Prague city centre and the Václav Havel airport.
The meeting’s symposia will cover a wide range of topics in chemical ecology, pertaining to diverse life forms spanning from microorganisms to humans, such as chemical communication and animal olfaction, insect–plant interactions, organic synthesis of natural products, biochemistry, molecular genetics and genomics, and applied chemical ecology.
The ISCE2024 meeting will offer over fifty hours of regular talks organized into 21 symposia running in three parallel sessions, six hours of plenary lectures, and two poster sessions. In the traditional free afternoon on Wednesday, attendees will have the option to choose from a variety of excursions to the Prague city centre, historical castles outside Prague, or the famous Pilsner Urquell brewery. After the meeting, a field trip to Czech forests affected by recent bark beetle outbreaks will be arranged.
ISCE systematically supports students and young scientists, who represent the future of the field. Therefore, the registration fee for student ISCE members is €250. The regular fee for ISCE members is €500, and a reduced fee of €320 is offered to participants from developing countries.
We cordially invite you to Prague to enjoy lots of chemical ecology as well as our beautiful historical city.
We are looking forward to meeting you all in Prague,
Anna, Robert and Pavlína
